Frontier Airlines Pet Policy

Frontier Airlines runs a number of low-cost flights across the world. As an extra plus, they are pet friendly, allowing dogs and their owners to travel together. You must first comply with their air travel regulations. Here is the Frontier Airlines pet policy and all you need to know about traveling to and from the UAE with your pet on Frontier.

Pre-travel Notices

Pets cannot be checked as luggage.

  • In addition to your pet's travel container, you can bring a personal item (8"H x 14"W x 18"L) or a carry-on bag (10"H x 16"W x 24"L). There will be an extra charge for the carry-on bag.

Make careful to research the appropriate laws, customs, and other governmental rules, requirements, or limitations for the nation or state to where your pet animal is being transferred. For example, if you're planning to bring a pet to Dubai, you should check to see whether any additional documentation is required to finalize your transfer.

For in-cabin pet travel

Only the following animals are permitted inside the cabin:

  • Domesticated dogs and cats must be at least 8 weeks of age.
  • Domesticated dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and small household birds are permitted on domestic flights in the United States.
  • Only domesticated dogs and cats can be transported to and from overseas locations.
  • Pets are welcome in the cabin on all domestic Frontier flights, as well as international flights to and from the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
  • When flying with a pet, you may not seat in row one or in the exit row.
  • For safety reasons, your pet must always be in its travel container. If your pet is being disruptive, it is up to you to calm him/her without removing him/her from the pet container.
  • You should never sedate your pet before flying, no matter how scared they are. Sedatives have a variety of effects on pets and can be lethal at high altitudes.

Pet Crate Guidelines for International Pet Travel

To ensure your pet's safety, they must travel in an IATA-approved pet carrier. This container is particularly intended to keep your pet safe and comfortable during flight travel.

  • The travel container should be spacious enough to allow the pet to stand, turn around, and lie down in a natural posture. The carrier should also fit below the seat in front of you. There may be seats that cannot accommodate your pet container, but we will try with you to find a seat with enough room.
  • A pet container's maximum dimensions are 18" length x 14" width x 8" height.
  • We recommend that the container be soft-sided.
  • Your pet must always remain in its container.

Pet Health and Wellness Guidelines

For overseas travel, a health certificate is necessary. Each country may have immunization needs that go beyond those stated here. Consulates can give more information on various diseases for which your pet must be immunized. Dogs and cats must have a baseline set of immunizations plus rabies before traveling to the UAE. Here are a few things to remember about your pet's health certificate.

Your pet's health certificate should be dated based on the nation of entry:

  • Within 30 days of entering Puerto Rico
  • Within ten days after entering the U.S
  • Within 15 days after entrance into the Dominican Republic
  • Within 14 days of entering Costa Rica
  • Within 5 days of entering Mexico

For all locations, your pet's health certificate must show that they have been immunized against rabies within the last 12 months. Please keep in mind that the vaccine must be given within one year and no later than 30 days before overseas travel. If a pet gets a rabies booster fewer than thirty days before an overseas trip, evidence of the previous rabies injection is necessary.

Additional requirements by country:

  • Mexico and the Dominican Republic demand a health certificate stating that the pet is parasite-free and has had parasite preventive treatment.
  • The following vaccines are recommended: hepatitis, PIP, and leptospirosis.
  • Puerto Rico demands a durable collar and two identifying tags. The tags should include your permanent address and phone number, as well as an address and phone number where you may be reached while away.
